Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser

What is the Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser?

Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser is truly in a league of its own.  This is the world’s first ablative and non-ablative laser combined into one handheld device. This allows the laser to target various types of cosmetic concerns in one treatment without the traditional downtime of ablative lasers.

What does the Halo Laser treat?

  • Sun Damage (brown spots)
  • Fine lines
  • Softens deeper lines
  • Evens skin tone
  • Reduces pore size
  • Revises scars
  • Restores the luminous skin reflectivity or “glow” you previously had
  • Produces collagen and elastin for upwards of 1-year post treatment

BABY HALO

Baby Halo is not our standard corrective Halo (ablative and non-ablative) laser treatment that removes brown spots, stimulates collagen, and helps correct wrinkles.  We are using only the non-ablative settings for Baby Halo at a much lower density to help stimulate collagen.  We use this mainly for our 20-40 year old patients for pre-juventation.  The benefits of Baby Halo are a very minimal downtime and collagen induction.  Most patients are healed in a few days and get the anti-aging benefits of collagen production!  We love combining this with dilute Radiesse filler, as it also simulates collagen the entire time it is in your skin.

What areas of the body does Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser treat?

Almost any area of the body can be treated with Halo including face, neck, chest, arms and hands.

How many treatments do I need?

I always tell my patients that I want them to have better looking skin a decade from now than they do today.  One of the ways to achieve this is to repeat Halo treatments throughout the years.  Although each patient is unique my general rule of thumb is as follows.

I recommend 1-2 Halo treatments within the first 6 months depending on the treatment goals.  Thereafter, I recommend at least one per year.  Remember that Halo stimulates collagen and elastin fibers.  These two things help hold up your skin and plump it up.  You want to start compounding those results and that is achievable by repeating Halo every year.  And don’t forget that we can customize the treatment each time.  If you want a more aggressive treatment one session and a mild treatment the next, Halo can be customized to do that and still provide results.

Is Halo painful?

Thankfully, no.  Traditional laser was not a fun process for the patient.  The good news is Halo is nothing like that.  Most patients tell me the pain is a 1 or 2 out of 10.  Typically, I will have a conversation with the patient throughout the entire treatment.  Some patients will feel their skin get very warm during treatment and this lasts about 2 hours.  The good news is we provide cooling throughout the entire treatment to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. On the rare occasion that the patient is uncomfortable we do offer Pro-Nox.

Pro-Nox delivers a mixture of 50% oxygen and 50% nitrous oxide.  This device is a 100% patient-controlled form of inhaled anesthesia.  Simply breathe deep and in seconds there will be immediate relief of pain and anxiety.  We are proud to offer this to our patients at no additional charge as part of our Halo package. The Pro-Nox anesthesia leaves your body in just a few minutes after treatment.  You can continue your day immediately after treatment.

What is the recovery like?

We provide all your aftercare products as part of your Halo laser package including a moisturizer, face wash, and sunscreen.  We only use physician grade post care products from our MedSpa. We also include Red LightStim 24 hours after your treatment to reduce inflammation and speed up your recovery. The aggressiveness of your treatment dictates the type of recovery you will have.  Usually patients are done with recovery between 5 to 7 days.  Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer.

What happens the day of treatment?

The day of treatment you will arrive first for your nursing appointment.  The nurse will have you review the consents and aftercare guidelines.  Then a powerful topical numbing agent is applied to your face for 45 minutes to 1 hour.  You will then be able to relax in one of our patient rooms.  Feel free to bring a book or iPad to pass the time.  After the numbing is complete your face will be cleaned and then you will be ready for the treatment.  The Halo treatment of the face can be as quick as 15 minutes depending on the settings.  Once completed, we will review your aftercare, and have you schedule a follow up appointment.

What is PRP with Halo?

This is part of our Halo+ package which includes PRP, two Red LightStim treatments to speed your recovery, and a Signature Ocean Drive Dermatology Facial 60 to 90 days post Halo to really get your skin glowing.

Your body’s own PRP is applied directly the skin during the Halo treatment.  This will help accelerate your healing, but the big benefit is it will help turbocharge your results by further boosting your body’s own collagen.

While you are numbing for the Halo treatment the nurse will draw just one tube of blood from your right or left arm.
