The Light & Bright laser treatment by Candela is a non-ablative treatment that help address skin irregularities both in the epidermis (top layer of skin) and dermis (second layer of skin). There are two components of the Light & Bright Laser. First, the Frax 1550 is a non-ablative laser that helps treat texture irregularities including wrinkles, scars, and pores. Frax 1550 will stimulate the cells by heat in the dermis to create collagen and elastin fibers thus improving wrinkles and other textural issues on the skin. Second, the Ellipse IPL will refresh the skin by reducing redness and vessels on the skin, as well as brown sun damaged spots. Both treatments are done during the same visit to lighten brown spots, soften wrinkles, and reduce redness in the skin. A series of treatments are recommended for best results.

How many treatments do I need?
- This is a treatment that provides best results from a series of three treatments. These can be done month 1, month 2, and month 3 or even spread across a longer period of time. After your series of treatments, touch-up treatments are recommended occasionally. Living in Florida, we are constantly bombarded by strong UV sun exposure that continues to alter how our skin ages. With the Light & Bright laser you can help address some of the issues caused by excess UV exposure including redness, wrinkles, and brown spots.
Can I combine the Nd:YAG 1064 Vascular Laser with other laser treatments?
- Yes, we sometimes combine the Light & Bright Laser with the Nd:YAG 1064 laser so that we can target thicker red blood vessels that may not respond to the Light & Bright treatment protocols.
Is the Light & Bright Laser painful?
- Typically, this is not a painful treatment. Topical numbing medication is sufficient for almost all patients. If the patient still has anxiety about the treatment, we can also utilize Pro-Nox. Pro-Nox delivers a mixture of 50% oxygen and 50% nitrous oxide. This device is a 100% patient-controlled form of inhaled anesthesia. Simply breathe deep and in seconds there will be immediate relief of pain and anxiety. The Pro-Nox anesthesia leaves your body in just a few minutes after treatment. You can continue your day immediately after treatment. Pro-Nox can be added on to any laser treatment to increase your comfort.
What is the recovery like?
- Most patients will notice redness to their skin and a darkening of pigment in the areas treated. This may last a few days or several days depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment. We recommend gentle cleansers and moisturizers during your recovery, as well as sun avoidance. Once recovered, we recommend sun screen and other sun protective measures. Red LightStim can be added on to your treatment 24 hours later to help speed up your recovery. This is a painless 20-30 minutes treatment that reduces inflammation and increases blood flow to the skin.
